Standing at the cash register, I hunted throughout my purse for money that had dropped out of my change purse or been tossed in.
After several embarrassing minutes, I scrounged together enough money to sheepishly pay the patient young man.
Financial Challenges & Fears

Maybe there has always been a little more month than money. Or maybe you are simply fearful, worried about what MIGHT happen to your family's finances.
The economy is a huge topic of discussion this year! More importantly to you, though, is the condition of your personal finances and how the economy is affecting you. This is important to God too! He cares about us. His heart is for us and He longs to give us good gifts. Our Heavenly Father LAVISHLY provides for our enjoyment! Yes, He does! If God cares about us and wants to bless us, what should our response to Him be?
Surrender

Are you surrendered in your heart to God's authority in the area of personal finances or are you holding on to control?
The sense of control is false control because you, dear man or woman of God, cannot control the economy or the things that happen to you in your life that cost money. Start with surrender to your Heavenly Father. Allow Him to train and equip you to walk in financial blessing. He will give you wisdom.
God's Wisdom
God's will is not for you to get rich quick! Nor does He want you to stay poor. God says a lot about finances in His Word and He wants to teach us to apply His principles to our daily life. Maybe you need to see God in a new way, not as a kill-joy, nor as a Santa Clause, but as a Father, training His children to be wise. Let's renew our minds with His Truth about finances.
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life!" (I Timothy 6:17-19 NIV).
Where is Our Hope?

So, how do we enjoy God's provision without putting our hope in wealth?
Ah, like so much of obeying Scripture, it is a matter of balance. The best way to keep our hearts from being attached to wealth is to thankfully share with those around us. Thanking the Lord for EVERYTHING will remind us how truly blessed we are. Others' needs will become apparent to us when we see our own blessing. There is a joy in giving away what God has lavished on us.
We also need to redefine wealth. Are we rich because our bank account is full or are we rich because God is meeting all our needs and filling our lives with His blessing?

One of the greatest blessings in my life has been to teach Economics and Money Management from a biblical perspective. There is so much truth in the Word of God related to Finances. Economics, Finances, and Business is available at Amazon and the E-book is available at PayHip. If you want to learn more, or teach a high school economics class to your teen, this one-credit high school course will be a blessing to you and your family.
