Celebrations are never complete without stories.
And our American Thanksgiving is full of stories.
Here are two chapter books that are lovely to read aloud to your children or grandchildren during the week of Thanksgiving.
Divide the chapters up so that you can finish the whole book in a week. The children will love these books and they give them a look back in time to the very first Thanksgiving.

We used this book as the basis for a Thanksgiving unit study when my children were younger. We read 2-3 chapters a day and learned about Separatists, Holland, Squanto, William Bradford, William Brewster, Sailing Ships, and the First Thanksgiving. What fun we had! But, this book can be reread over and over through the years. It is one of those books that never grows old.

William grows up with his grandfather who teaches him about history, but more importantly teaches him from the Bible. He grows up near Sherwood Forest and hears all the tales of Robin Hood. Eventually, he meets William Brewster and becomes part of the little Separatist congregation. This is a fun book to read aloud. It will keep everyone’s attention. Younger and older children will love the story of William’s childhood and life.

If you are interested in learning more about celebrating Thanksgiving, I encourage you to purchase Celebrate Thanksgiving where you will not only learn the entire story of the Pilgrims, but you will read devotions, prayers, Scriptures, and poems that will inspire you. This book has everything you need to make your holiday Christ-centered and meaningful with recipes, crafts, and celebrations to try out in your own home.
What a glorious reason to celebrate Thanksgiving is! How wonderful to set aside time to give thanks to Almighty God who has blessed us with so many incredible gifts. My print copy of Celebrate Thanksgiving is available at Amazon and the E-book can be purchased at PayHip.
Happy Thanksgiving
