Here are some ideas to make special days special.
Birthdays:
Call and sing "Happy Birthday" over the phone for a church friend’s birthday.
Gather birthdates of all church members and remember each person's birthday with a card, note, or postcard.
Let small groups celebrate all the birthdays from that month in one of the group meetings. Have a birthday cake with everyone's name on it. Pray over the birthday people. Thank the Lord for them and ask for God's blessings on their lives over the coming year.
Anniversaries:

Or offer to watch the children so they can get away for dinner or even an overnight.
The small group leader can have couple share their wedding pictures and two secrets for staying together in small group. Then the group can pray over couple for God's blessing on their marriage.
Easter:
Invite a Messianic Jewish Brother to give a Passover Seder one evening during Holy Week in the church fellowship hall, explaining how Jesus fulfills the symbolism of the meal.
Celebrate after your Easter service with a big holiday meal involving members of the small group without relatives nearby to share the day. Take pictures of each family in their Easter best!
Thanksgiving:
Gather together a food basket for a poor family in the church or somehow connected to the church. If there isn’t one, then ask a local ministry for a family to collect for.
Have a special Thanksgiving Prayer & Praise Night where people share different things that everyone is thankful for followed by a time of praise and worship.
Have a thanksgiving meal together Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving.

Collect clothes and other items for baby Jesus. Donate to a Crisis pregnancy center.
Adopt a needy family, or needy families, as a church. Buy and wrap gifts. Provide a Christmas meal.
Have a small gift or ornament exchange. Everyone can draw names of individuals or families.
Watch a traditional Christmas movie together.
Go Christmas caroling as small groups. Invite those you sing to back to the host family’s house for cookies and hot chocolate. (A great outreach to unbelievers!)
Don't forget to make memories with your church family!
For His Glory,
