Bonnie Rose, the author of Asia: Its People & History, didn’t bore me with random information about Laos. She introduced me to a family living in Laos whose lives included avoiding unexploded bombs, persecution for their faith in Christ, and living in poverty. An amazing storyteller can scoop you up into the drama of people’s lives and that’s what Bonnie Rose did! This excellent curriculum is a great way to learn about six countries in Asia.
History and Geography are my favorite subjects to teach, but I have to be honest with you: I don’t know much about most Asian countries. I learned so much reading this book. If you are in the same boat, you will learn so much reading these stories and lessons aloud to your kids. What fun to learn together with your children!
What is covered in this sixteen-week course, designed for children ages 8-12?

The history and geography of Laos, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Iran, and Vietnam are covered thoroughly through stories and lessons, as well as the Christian Church in each country. Bonnie Rose manages to tackle hard issues in a way that is not too graphic and easy for children to understand. Stories of real Christians and links to organizations that minister to the people of Asia are included in the book. The resource section at the back of the book is jam-packed with articles, books, and websites for further study.
The Persecuted Church in Asia
As a Christian, I want to learn more about the persecuted church in Asia. Many of our brothers and sisters in Asia are laying down their life for Christ. I want to pray effectively for them, remembering to pray for them. Since reading this book, I have prayed for the persecuted church every day.
Added Freebies
An added bonus to this curriculum is the freebies available on the book's page on the WriteBonnieRose website. Eagerly, I downloaded Needlework Flag Patters, handwriting copywork, a graph decoding book, and Asian map activities. Everything looked fabulous! I didn't even download all that was available. Another blessing was the reading list with living books set in Asia.
Grateful to have come across this resource! You can purchase Asia: Its People and History in print or E-book here.
