Since we were studying Ancient History again in our home school, I thought I would do a little investigating on my own to find new stories and archaeological discoveries.
The title, The Secrets of Ancient Man, grabbed my attention and as I leafed through it, I was intrigued.
After finishing the easy-to-understand, beautifully illustrated book, I was grateful. I learned new information about the Bible, ancient history texts, and archaeology.
Not only was the book easy-to-read and understand, it was packed with beautiful illustrations, charts, and quotes.
I was so excited as I read through it and just had to tell you about The Secrets of Ancient Man.
Let me share a little bit from the book to whet your appetite.

Let me share a little bit from the book to whet your appetite.
Since the judgment and dispersal there, Babel has been reproduced physically and symbolically around the earth. At Babel, the people decided to “come together” (instead of scattering to fill the earth), “build a city” (political power), “build a tower reaching to the Heavens” (religious power), and “make a name from themselves” (pride instead of glorifying God). This pattern of rebellion continued after they were scattered to the ends of the earth, giving birth to a variety of civilizations that refused to honor the Lord. Serving idol/gods instead, the fell into satan’s trap.
Beginning with the post-flood settlement of the plain of Shinar, Erech (Urek), Babel (later Babylon), and the rest of Sumer, the author shares insightful knowledge about Ancient Civilizations throughout the world.
I was fascinated to learn more about Nimrod and hear what ancient historians had to say about him and his role in the Tower of Babel. Some historians believe that Nimrod, King Sargon, and Gilgamesh were one and the same.
The palaces of the Minoans on Crete and nearby Thera were fascinating with their massive size, modern plumbing, and creative cooling system. The palace on Crete had 1,300 rooms and was four stories high. Some historians believe that the successful Minoan seafaring merchants traveled all the way to North America to mine copper.

Through I am a history lover and read everything I can get my hands on, I learned new things about all the major ancient players (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Phoenicia, Carthage, Persia, Greece, Rome, and Israel) and was introduced to civilizations that were new to me.
Many leaders of these ancient cultures claimed to be idol/gods themselves. The author explains the progression into that kind of deception. He also gives reasons and examples of how and why God judges nations.
Oh, dear there is so much more I want to tell you. You will just have to read the book yourself. You will love it!
