There are so many ways to simplify the holidays to not only cut cost, but to decrease stress.
When I host my annual Christmas party this year, I will have all the guests bring a dish to share. This will cut my expenses and make it easier to prepare for the event.
When the extended family starts talking about Christmas, I will suggest that we draw names and only give that person 1 gift that has a price limit on it. This will instantly chop down the amount of shopping I have to do.

There is no need for shopping this year for holiday clothes and accessories--yes, I said that and my husband will be very glad. I will take a day early in the month to pull out all my "festive" clothing and jewelry and lay it out on my bed. I will ask God to give me fresh eyes and creativity. I know he will and I will have a "new outfit" that cost me nothing.
Well, dear friends, there is more, but for now these ideas should get you started in preparing for a more frugal Christmas season. Remember these are holidays...or should I say, Holy Days, set aside to honor the Lord. Maybe the lean economy is a good thing. As we simplify and cut costs there is more time to think about the Reason for the Season: Jesus and His Goodness.
