Read the Best Literature in the World!

Are you ready for fun and adventure from the land of the English?

Welcome to British Literature, a one credit high school English course you can use at home or with a homeschool co-op. We will have a blast reading, writing, and discussing the greatest literature ever written besides the Bible. Starting with Beowulf and Canterbury Tales, we will time travel through British history by reading well-loved classics like Milton, Chesterton, Dickens, Chaucer, Austen, Sayers, and Doyle.

This one credit English course for high school students (or advanced middle school students) with an emphasis on reading for enjoyment. There is lots of reading to do, but no twaddle and no “busy work.” Each assignment has an educational purpose.

This class will introduce students to the best literature in the world and stir up an appetite for excellence in their reading choices. A brief overview of British History and British Literature is provided, as well as several book lists for further reading.

Instead of book reports, books are discussed in a “book club” setting with snacks. Questions are provided as a springboard for lively conversations about these amazing books.

Writing assignments are based on the reading material and include Flight to Israel Tales, Epic Poem, Victorian Poem, Sonnet, Allegory, and Essays. Use this class in a book club, family, or co-op setting.

Life Skills Class

Most men want to settle down one day with the right woman and raise a family.

How can you prepare your teenage son for his future?

This high school Life Skills course was created to equip young men to enjoy healthy relationships now and in the future.

Dig into the Word of God with Real Men. God has real wisdom for us in His Word about dealing with lust, staying pure in a dirty world, courtship, preparing for marriage, family roles, communication, and family life.

Pastor Mike and his wife, Meredith, use the Holy Bible and other living books to teach life skills and prepare their teenagers to be joyful and successful adults with healthy relationships. The goal: to prepare them to live godly lives now and in the future when they are adults working, studying, married, and parenting.

The carefully chosen living books will impact your teenager’s heart. Originally designed for their children, and later for close friends and church members, this class uses the mentoring style of teaching. Real men classes require Dad to meet once a week with his son. Students do Scripture word studies, make booklets & videos to teach these truths to younger children, memorize Bible passages, play games, enjoy hands-on projects, write essays, and enjoy some group activities to teach about the differences between men and women.

With so many marriages ending in divorce and so many “Christian” singles indulging in sexual sin, here is a great way to prepare for a Christ-honoring marriage.

You will need Real Men Talk about Guys, Virtue, and Marriage Bible Study, as well as these living books:
Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Eliot
When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric & Leslie Ludy
Sex is Not the Problem (Lust Is) by Joshua Harris
I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris
If Only He Knew by Gary Smalley
Man in the Mirror by Patrick  Morely
The Christian Family by Larry Christensen
Husbands & Fathers by Derek Prince
It Takes a Gentleman and a Lady by Eric Ludy

Bible/Life Skills Class

Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission 2,000 years ago. We are still called to fulfill that mandate to “Go and make disciples of all the nations…” What a glorious privilege & adventure!

We want our teens to change the world, don’t we? Where do we start?

Great Commission was one of the things we did to instill vision and to equip our teens to have a heart for the lost, to share the Gospel clearly, to share their testimony, and to impact the world around them.

This is a one credit high school Bible/life skills class that teaches young men and women to proclaim the Gospel, share their testimony, and mentor other believers. With a focus on the world and the Word of God, this class will take them out of the classroom into the world! The assignments are practical, but may stretch some teens beyond their comfort zone.

We love this independent study course in our home. Each week the student meets with mom or dad, or a godly mentor. We have seen our children blossom as they learn more about serving the Lord and extending His Kingdom.

You will Need the Following Living Books & Bible Studies
  • Master Plan of Evangelism
  • Eternity in their Hearts
  • Tell the Truth by Will Metzger (or Out of the Saltshaker and Into the World by Becky Pippert)
  • I'm Out to Change My World by Ann Kimmel

  • God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew
  • Real Men Build Bible Study Workbook by Pastor Mike for men & Meredith Curtis or A Wise Woman Builds Bible Study Workbook by Meredith Curtis for ladies
